Avoid Painful Injuries during Running and Workout
Running is inherently repetitive, meaning you uses the same muscle groups in the same motion and direction over and over.
A good approach to blending running and strength training means more than just lifting weights and running.
It means strategically working opposing muscle groups, and deliberately counteracting the 1,000s of repetitive steps and strides you take when you run. This helps prevent injuries, because the goal isn’t just to be “strong” it’s to be a strong & resistant as a runner.
We start new blocks of the Lift/Run and the Performance aesthetics programs tomorrow. Lift/Run starts a 7 week block and PFA starts a 4 week block.

Do you guys ever swim? I heard you use to do triathlons. I’d like to see some training content in the water. Just throwing it out there. And cycling. The Tour de France starts soon!
A good balance of low impact cardio, and space between runs, has helped me.

If you want to be good at something, you should focus on that. If you want to be a good runner, you should primarily run. Running is not cardio. Running is running. It’s a skill that demands the development of different muscle fibers and connective tissue. This type of development cannot happen in a CrossFit gym. It takes a lot of practice to get better at it. I quit doing CrossFit so that I could get much better at running. I still do some strength work. But it doesn’t resemble CrossFit workouts in any way. CrossFit and running are not complementary forms of training. One will reduce your proficiency at the other. The research shows that concurrent training will reduce progress in each domain. A relatively small amount of aerobic training can improve strength training but the interference effect is real if you are doing significant endurance training and strength training. The interference effect goes both ways. It reduces running performance and strength gains. If hybrid training doesn’t mean anything, then it’s best to not use the term. Training should be defined by the goal of training.
So hybrid training is crossFit re-marketed

I’m so grateful for you and all you do for this community. So which brings me to this question? I do CrossFit and I like to compete in CrossFit as well but I also want to improve my running and get faster. How would you balance your training or what is the best program you would recommend in the ibex app for this? Thank you 🙏
Hey! That is so cool, we love to hear that!! We have a ton of member in similar situations and for most we find adding 2-3 crossfit workouts per week is the sweet spot were you get the benefit without feeling beat up. the close you get to a comp the more spicfic your training needs to be and the more crossfit you need to be doing. I hope this is helpful, feel free to shoot us an email also!

I really love the idea and look of storing your plates on the wall, but I would be a little concerned about hanging so much weight off one wall stud. Maybe I am being overly cautious, but something to think about.
